About The League...

Map of St. Charles County, MO

The Saint Charles Dart League (SCDL) began in 1980 or 1981 and is restricted by its By-Laws to the County of Saint Charles, Missouri (see map above).

The League was originally formed as an alternative to the Mississippi Valley Darting Organization (MVDO) which encompasses a wide geographic area including Saint Louis proper. The SCDL has over 500 active members sponsored by about 20 different bars all over Saint Charles County. (These counts vary by season - see the current statistics for this season.)

The league was incorporated on November 1, 1999 as a Missouri Nonprofit Corporation known as St. Charles Dart League, Inc. and the league joined the American Darts Organization (ADO) in January, 2001.

The league address is:

St. Charles Dart League, Inc.
P.O. Box 483
St. Peters, MO 63376

Divisions in the Saint Charles Dart League (from lowest to highest) are: C, B3, B2, B1, A2 and A1. The SCDL uses no handicap system; players are rated based on past performance and teams are assigned to Divisions based on ability level. Beginner teams should sign up for C Division. Every effort is made to place a team in their preferred division, however this cannot be guaranteed as scheduling conflicts may require some shifts.

Team Leagues play on either Tuesday nights or Thursday nights in all divisions. Sponsors may sign up teams for either or both nights, but the Tuesday and Thursday leagues play separate schedules. A minimum of four teams are required to make up a division / night. If more than eight teams sign up for a particular division / night, then the teams are randomly split into Red / Blue squads with separate schedules.

Open Doubles League plays on Monday nights. The Monday Open Doubles League is an "open" league, meaning there is no sex restriction placed on the doubles teams, though Monday Doubles follows the same Rating System and divisional breakdown as the team leagues. Open Doubles teams may have up to four players on their roster.

Mixed Doubles League plays on Wednesday nights. The Wednesday Mixed Doubles League is currently an "unrated" league. There is no ratings restriction on who may play on a team, but the sexes must always be mixed. Doubles teams may have up to four players on their roster. Mixed Doubles players who do not also play in a rated league are assigned a rating by the Ratings Committee at the conclusion of each season. Otherwise, player ratings are not affected by participation in Mixed Doubles.

Seasons: Fall and Winter Seasons are 15 weeks long, plus playoffs. Summer Season is 12 weeks long, plus playoffs. Fall Season normally begins in August, Winter Season in January, and Summer Season in May. See the calendar for dates.

Sponsor Fee: $60 per team in Fall and Winter Seasons, $48 per team in the Summer Season (for team leages, half that for doubles leagues). Sponsors may sign up as many teams on each night as they have sanctioned dartboards. (Minimum of 4 boards is required to host a playoff (Rule 8(c)) - portable boards are available if necessary - advance notice is required.)

Member Dues: $2 per week. Players pay only when they play at least one game. Absent players do not pay.

Trophies and Awards: All divisions receive trophies for each member of the first place team. Playoff winners, MVP's in each division, and the winners of the Traveling Trophy Championship also receive individual trophies.

Any player who scores 180 points (3 triple 20's) or 171 points (3 triple 19's only) in one turn in any '01 game during the regular season or during playoffs receives an award (pin).

Sponsors receive a plaque for any team which wins their playoff as well as a large permanent plaque on which are mounted brass plates for any teams in the top three in their division. The Traveling Trophy is retained by the winning Sponsor for one season and the Sponsor then hosts the Traveling Trophy Championship tournament for that division the following season. Any Sponsor who's teams win the same Traveling Trophy three consecutive times is then awarded the tropy permanently and the league begins a new Traveling Trophy for that division.

Team Rosters must have at least 4 players and may have up to 8 players. Open Doubles Rosters must have at least 2 players and may have up to 4 players. Mixed Doubles Rosters must have at least 2 players (1 man, 1 woman) and may have up to 4 players (2 men, 2 women). Sponsors should collect the completed Signup Sheets for all of their teams and bring them to Signup Night, or mail them to the League Address before Signup Night, with a check for the full amount (check the calendar for dates).

Players May be Added to teams during the season up to 24 hours in advance of a match with the permission of a Board of Directors Member. No players may be added in the last three weeks of the season (see calendar for exact dates).
