Board Sets New Equipment Standards
June 4, 2002 - Scott Martin (Webmaster)
he SCDL Board of Directors approved a new written policy on league play equipment during their meeting on June 2. Previously, there was no written policy to guide the sponsoring bars as to what was acceptable within the rules.
The new policy is stated below:
Fluorescent Lighting (preferable): Fixtures shall be of the 2 bulb 48-inch variety, using no less than 40-watt bulbs. The fixture shall be boxed or blocked from light shining back into the thrower's eyes.
Incandescent Lighting (this includes track lighting): Fixtures should be no smaller than 3 inches in diameter. There shall be no less than 2 fixtures pointed at each board. Position fixtures as to minimize shadows cast by darts on boards.
Scoreboard: Writing surface shall be no less than 12 inches wide and 20 inches in length with a legible writing surface. The Board of Directors suggest the use of dry erase boards, but chalkboards are acceptable.
Hockey Line: The center of the bullseye must be marked on the hockey (toe) line.
The guidelines will be added to the Rules Addendum when new rulebooks are printed.
